About the Punch Needle technique
The Punch Needle is a versatile, yet easy-to-use technique with which we can create beautiful objects and realize exciting ideas – be it a pillow cover, bag, wall protector, carpet, clothing accessory or a textile toy. The punch needle technique is a manual carpet-making technique that originated in the United States. Today, it is experiencing a renaissance again thanks to Amy Oxford, who developed a convenient, easy-to-use Punch Needle, or more commonly known as an embroidery needle. The Oxford Punch Needle is an embroidery needle made of hollow, decorative maple wood, which can be used to embroider the thread onto the fabric from above, while making loops on the reverse side.
As a craftsman and the only official Oxford Punch Needle instructor in Hungary, I have been creating with this technique for many years. I only work with natural yarn and wool because I feel as if I were taking a piece of nature in my hands and shaping it, pouring it into a work of art. More information about me: www.annakamadar.hu
